Fast to be healthy

Approximately once a year, able-bodied Muslims everywhere abstain from not just food and drinks, but also from consuming of anything...from cigarettes to chewing gum, between dawn to dusk.
This happens only during Ramadhan, as soon as the first sighting of the crescent in the sky signals the arrival of the ninth Islamic month.

Fasting is one of the five pillars in Islam. It is one of the obligations of every able and healthy Muslim. Fasting in Islam goes beyond feeling hungry and thirsty in order to understand what is it like to be indigent. It is also a month about destroying the soul from the negative and impure. Fasting is also seen as an opportunity to be seized, a time to get rid of bad habits and to embark on good ones, to be more forgiving, more spiritual and more connected to Allah s.w.t.

Ramadhan is a blessed month for every Muslim. Besides getting blessings from Allah s.w.t. for those who are able to fast, it is also a great time to detoxify the body.

What stand true for all, is the fear that this form of worship is "difficult to do". Yet, we often hear of occurrences whereby one feels tired, experiencing headache, upset stomach and some even gain weight during fasting month! :-)

It is an amazing fact that if you consume the right food during Ramadhan, the feeling of tiredness can be a thing of the past. During Ramadhan, you only get two mealtimes a day, make sure that the food you are taking consist of good nutrients. Otherwise, your body will get into reverse mode or even worse, starvation...!
It does not matter how simple, little or how much, especially in the wee hours of the morning when sleeping in is so much more tempting than eating something healthy. To fight hunger twinge and to overcome lethargic, try these simple yet healthy plan:

~ As soon as you get up for Sahur, drink two glass of water before starting your meal. After meal, grab a couple of ripe bananas and complete it with a glass of yogurt drink or cultured milk drink (needless to say on these drink benefit). Aide in healing ulcers, digestive disorders and fatigue. So, NO more excuse to skip fasting..!

~ The best way to break fast is to drink another two glass of water while eating a handful of dates. Dates are packed with great nutrients, especially potassium. The best way to re-nourish and rehydrate the body.

~ Have some fruits before performing Maghrib pray and continue with light dinner just before Tarawih. It's a wonderful time...not just gain blessings, but to calm our mind through meditative prayers. Plus, a gentle physical movements of Tarawih ~ exercise is, anyway.

~ Try to stop eating three hours before going to bed. You'll end up waking up dizzy for Sahur.

Choose lean white meat like chicken breast instead of red meat like beef or mutton. Get more protein from beans and fish.

Avoid fried food during break fast as it can cause unnecessary fat gain or indigestion during the night.

~ Reduce your consumption of coffee, carbonated drinks and cordials as well. Better still, take some supplement to your balanced diet.

Islam wants Muslims to be healthy, clean, alert and energetic. "Fast to be healthy" as said by our Prophet (s.a.w.)

Still wondering where did my girls picked the "spirit for sports". Never in my childhood years, I have the interest to take part during sports day at school... :P
Seriously, aku memang kaki bangku. Bukan tak try ambil bahagian, time kelayakan dah terkeluar...camne tu?

...not even to run..hahaha...!


Menyibuk bila sekolah ada competition or sports day...never failed to "menyibukkan diri" hehe

7 Flavours ~ Cake & Topping: Pandan Mint, Vanilla with Strawberry (filling), Double Chocolate, Orange Poppy Seed, Carrot, Blueberry Coconut & Banana Lemon...(phew). Nasib baik ordered by a dear friend & big quantity. If not, I will give an auto-reject. :P

Selamat Hari Ibu

Seperti tahun2 yang lain, anak2 aku akan buat kad ucapan "Hari Ibu" dan bagi sepotong kek. Thank you my angels. I love it! :)

Haish....lama dah tak update blog ni. Banyak perkara yang berlaku & tak sempat nak update.

Hmm...mana nak start, eh? Well, antara perkara2 yang berlaku (mcm minit mesyuarat la pulak). Ok...tukar style...hehehe

Ni semua penangan facebook. Nak update blog pun dah tak tahu mcm mana nak start. Hari2 dok main game kat facebook. Biarlah orang nak kata apa, aku tetap akan main jugak! At least, aku tak merepek banyak sangat kat wall time komen post orang lain. Bila komen nanti ada yang tersentap, hantar message tak puas hati kat aku. hehe...mcm budak2. :P

Maklumlah...aku ni mulut laser....huhu

Tang mana laser, aku pun tak sure. At least aku komen yang benar. Tak hipokirt. Tidak pura2 like status kengkawan atau puji menggunung, tapi belakang kalu, mencemuh & mengejek. hahaha...terer la korang berlakon.

Pada aku, kalau aku tahu sesuatu benda, aku akan share. Kalau ada antara komen kawan2 yang tak betul, aku bagi tahu perkara yang betul. Laser ke tu?

Kalau kawan2 start topik kutuk mengutuk, aku join sekali...especially kalau nama aku terbabit. Laser ke tu?

Entah la...aku nak jugak try update status memaki hamun kereta kat jalanraya, komplen kakitangan kerajaan buat kerja lambat macam yang kawan2 aku selalu update status FB dia org. Barulah sesuai dengan title "mulut laser". hahaha..! Bagi aku lah kan, kalau update status maki orang sana sini, tu mulut busuk. bukan laser. haha...! err...ye la...mulut aku ni laser la.! muahahaha!!

Duh...! Jauh menyimpang dari topik asal ni. Astaghfirullahal'azim. =)

Sorry la kalau ada yang tersinggung dengan posting aku kali ni. Jiwa kacau sekarang ni. Tadi cikgu sekolah call aku komplen pasal anak dara aku yang bongsu. Every week si kecik ni akan buat hal. Ada je...dia & fren akan annoy cikgu2 sekolah & langgar disiplin. Aku dah habis cara nak tackle masalah si kecik ni.

She's a smart girl, actually. A hyper active girl yang suka bersukan. Semua acara sukan dia masuk...u name it. Dari lumba lari sampai la lompat jauh. Jauh beza dengan aku yang kaki bangku ni.

Dari segi penampilan & perwatakan sangatlah jauh dari kakak2 dia yang lebih feminine & obedient. UPSR lagi 3 bulan. Dia layan TV bila aku suruh buat revision atau solat. Aku dah tak boleh tolerate lagi dengan fiil si kecik ni. Tapi, tidak sampai tahap memukul. NO...!! That's not how to treat a child.

Dah macam2 cara aku buat untuk divert attention dia dari khayal dengan kawan2. Berkali aku nasihatkan tentang nilai & batas2 persahabatan. Hmm....

Aku doakan agar anak aku akan sedar dengan cepat betapa banyak masa & tenaga yang dia dah bazirkan dengan kawan2 dan masih sempat untuk dia berubah. Amin...

Selamat Hari Ibu buat semua ibu2 & bakal ibu. Tabahkan hatimu, Sayangi anakmu dan Sanjungi keluargamu.

Tiada siapa yang akan faham emosi seorang ibu.
Tiada juga yang akur dengan teguran ibu.
Namun, tiada apa didunia yang dapat menandingi kasih seorang ibu.
Hargailah ibu kita selagi masih ada kerana esok, kita juga akan menjadi seorang ibu.
